Diesel-Fume Scare In Queens

NY Post

More than 100 Queens office workers were sickened by diesel fumes from an excavation project yesterday.

About a dozen people were taken to area hospitals, but none was in serious condition, an FDNY spokesman said.

The FDNY was called to 33-00 Northern Blvd. in Long Island City just before 10 a.m., but calls reporting the fumes continued through the afternoon.

The excavation project was being done in the Sunnyside rail yards behind the building. Environmental officials were investigating the source of the fumes.
