Fire Officials Call Brooklyn Blaze "Suspicious"

NY 1

Investigators are looking into a blaze that broke out in a Brooklyn home yesterday evening.

The fire broke out shortly after 7 p.m. at a house on Marion Street in Ocean Hill that was home to a group of squatters.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the flames on the second and third floors of the building.

The owner believes the fire was no accident, and fire officials are calling the blaze "suspicious."

"It's a complete loss," said the building owner Arthur Spruell. "I've been supporting, trying to keep up the house the best I could."

"I was very worried because it looked like the fire was going to go down the whole block," said neighbor Louise Bynoe.

The squatters escaped without injury.

Nearby homes did suffer minor damage.
