St. Michael's Cemetery, East Elmhurst, has dedicated memorials to the 76 Queens Firefighters of 9/11 and the men and women of the New York Police Department and Port Authority Police Department who sacrificed their lives saving others at the World Trade Center.
On Saturday, September 6 at 1 p.m., the memorial service for the heroes of the attack will be joined by the families of First Responders who died in the line of duty. Members of the New York Police Department, Fire Department of New York and Port Authority Police Department will be honored.
With the aid of the community and directors, St. Michael's plans to dedicate a First Responders' Monument honoring the fallen of the FDNY, PAPD and NYPD who died in the line of duty from 1995 to date. New losses will be inscribed annually.
The First Responders' Monument will create a citywide sanctuary to ensure the memorials dedicated to the officers and firefighters who sacrificed their lives in the attacks of 9/11 are recalled yearly.
Memory Medallion, Inc. is donating a medallion for each officer and firefighter. Their families should contact Memory Medallion, Candice Buchanan, Candice@memorymedallion.com or 877-418-8107 and provide up to 600 words and a photo which will be downloaded on to the medallion for their loved one.
Participation and support is needed. Without you the honor and the remembrance owed each individual who gave their all in service to the city and its citizens cannot be achieved.
