FDNY Still Barred From Cadet/Ems Promotions To Firefighter
As we informed you last August on 65-2 # 20 of 2001, the UFA was successful in securing a preliminary injunction against any promotions to firefighter from the EMS ranks via the special promotional exam. We seek a permanent injunction, but the preliminary order still stands to date. Do not be confused when you see an EMS Personnel Order at the time of any probie swearing in, that lists EMTs promoted to firefighter. These are members who took the open competitive exam and scored well enough to place high on the list. As their list number is reached they are hired like everyone else. For pension fund purposes, the EMS Command records this hiring as a promotion.

On Light Duty? Don't Report To Bhs On Day Off
If you are doing light duty, you are not required to report to the Bureau of Health Services on one of your days off. Report to the clinic on your working days.

PERB Decisions Available From Outside Sources
The full text of PERB's decisions since 1986 are available on the internet from Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw. Unfortunately, these are both paid subscription services. A local library may make one or both available to the public. The electronic library you would search on either service is called 'NY-PER.' LRP Publication publishes printed versions of PERB's decisions under the title 'Official Decisions, Opinions and related Matters - Public Employment Relations Board of the State of New York.' These hard copies of PERB's decisions may be available at a local library or local law library.

Fundraising Photo For Sale By Engine 63 & Battalion 15
There are two pictures together that will be linked forever in history - the flag raising at Iwo Jima and the flag raising at WTC. A package was put together along with President Bush's inspirational words. The photo paper was donated by Eastman Kodak Company of Rockchester, New York. Atlantic Business Products donated the copying. We are selling this first copy to the Commissary for ten dollars and each additional copy will cost ten dollars. Each picture ordered would be exactly the same one sent to the Commissary. The UFA and the UFOA have asked that the money for this picture go to the Thomas Elsasser Fund. If you are more comfortable having the money go to the UFA Widow's and Childrens Fund, it is not a problem. Please send order form and money to Engine 63/Battalion 15, 755 East 233rd Street, Bronx NY 10466, 718-430-0263. Thank you in advance for your support. The officers and members of Engine 63 and Battalion 15.
